Welcome!

Welcome to the website of Kaza di Zaza.

I assume that you have come to this website because you are looking for more information about Brava and the accommodation options.

Well, then you have come to the right place if you are looking for simple accommodation in the beautiful bay of Faja d’ Agua. I have been living here for twelve years now together with the Bravarians. I dare say that I know a lot of the ins and outs and stories about Brava. I have walked the beautiful hiking trails many times. And I know the beautiful swimming spots. I would like to share that with you.

How do I work.

I rent out three simple apartments, more about that later. Because during my travels I always hated ‘breakfast from seven to ten’ in a dining room. I do not serve breakfast. Each apartment has a gas stove, pots and pans. You can make your own breakfast, lunch or dinner at any time. If desired, I bake bread and if the chickens feel like it, they lay eggs. There is a small shop in Faja d’Agua for basic necessities and at least once a week I go ‘up’, to Vila Nova Sintra, for groceries. I can take your list with me or you can of course visit this picturesque town yourself. There are two restaurants in the village, they serve snacks (morea fritado and such) and can also make dinner for you if you let them know a few hours in advance. If I feel like it I will do that every now and then. Freedom, Happiness…

Water:

Water and energy are scarce in the whole of Cabo Verde and therefore also on Brava. In order not to tempt people to stay under the shower for hours, there is no hot water and please do not stay under the shower for hours to cool down 😉 The sea is nearby. It is also the reason that I do not rent for just one night. Having to wash sheets and towels for just one night of use is too much for me. So at least two nights. And oh yes, you do not have to buy plastic bottles of drinking water, you can just drink from the tap here. That saves a lot of plastic waste that has to be burned here with all the consequences.

Because I want to work as environmentally friendly as possible (please don’t call me ‘eco’!) I don’t use insecticides. Those creatures are also very useful! If you find a room in the tropics without a few insects, they spray it with poison almost every day. I clean the apartments as well as possible but leave the house spiders, for example, they all have their own territory and if it becomes vacant due to death, a new resident will soon come… And hey, they eat mosquitoes, among other things. There are no poisonous animals, so no poisonous insects, on Brava!

Enjoy the peace and nature!

The roof terrace;

On the big house the roof terrace is accessible to all guests. There is free wifi and of course a beautiful view over the ocean. There is a large table and benches around it. A good place to share your enthusiasm about the island with others. Have a drink together and possibly eat something.
